Now Ken is 80, a widower, and ailing. His children think it's time for a new kind of home; drowsy afternoons and smiling caregivers. But Ken is not going gently. This is a story about home. Why we need it, why we have to leave, and why we always return. Home Land was commissioned by Fortune Theatre, Dunedin NZ, and premiered on 1st October 2004 as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations. In 2007 it was staged by Circa Theatre and nominated for six Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards. It won five: Production of the Year for Circa Theatre, Best Director (Jane Waddell), Best Actor (Grant Tilly), Best Female Newcomer (Jodie Hillock), and Best New NZ Play (Gary Henderson).
